Beard Transplant

Satisfactory results can be obtained by applying hair transplantation to camouflage if a scar appears in the beard area for any reason such as burns or infection. Removing and suturing the affected area leaves long and distinct scars. A beard planted appropriately and according to the density of the edge hair provides excellent camouflage.

The process of beard transplantation is similar to the process of hair transplantation. FUT or FUE is preferred for this method of treatment. Both procedures require 2,000 to 5,000 or more hair follicle grafts from the back of the head, usually at the same level with your ears or slightly lower, and placed on the face. A graft is a transplanted hair follicle.

Regardless of the type of procedure performed, the transplanted hair follicles must be installed within 3 or 4 months and regrow. In 8 or 9 months, if you have a full, healthy beard that you can treat as if it has always been there, you will know that your beard transplant is a success.

While both FUE and FUT can result in natural-looking beards, beards grown with FUT tend to be denser. This is because when the skin flap is removed, more follicles are usually collected. So, if your goal is to have a thicker beard, consider the FUT method.

Beard transplant failure is rare and usually depends on the fault of the person performing the procedure. Therefore, it is important to choose an experienced hair restoration surgeon.
